Following President Barchi’s announcement about the 8th Annual Rutgers Against Hunger’s Adopt-a-Family Campaign, the PDA has decided to show their support by adopting their very first family. This means we will work together to fulfill a wish list of needed items–including, but not limited to, nonperishable foods, toiletries, baby supplies, and clothing–for a local family.
According to Barchi, the Adopt-a-Family campaign began in 2009, with Rutgers faculty, staff, and alumni adopting 1,350 local families thus far. While the program is not a permanent fix to the structural inequalities that lead to poverty and food insecurity, it does provide some relief for local families in need. The PDA welcomes your support through either small monetary donations or purchase of needed items, which we will make known once we receive our family’s profile.
